There are so many tourist activities that are worth a trip from the 3-star Lacanau club-village in the Gironde. The club-village*** has partnered with the Médoc Océan tourist office to give you preferential rates on catamaran trips, horse and carriage rides, and trips to seaside villas.
Further afield, there are two must-see UNESCO world heritage sites : the medieval city of Saint-Emilion (around 1hr 30 mins away by car) and Bordeaux (1 hr away). If you like good wine and fine dining, you can take the Châteaux du Médoc route, which takes in Saint-Estèphe, Pauillac, Saint-Julien and Margaux. Arcachon Bay in the south is a magical place for anyone who loves nature. The Teich bird sanctuary is a particular favourite with anyone interested in fauna and flora. You can also visit the Cap Ferret peninsula, the oyster farming village of L’Herbe, or simply take a walk in the Landes du Médoc and admire the countryside.
